What you think or feel isn’t always true

(An excerpt from Rooted and Real )

Ever catch yourself spiraling based on something you thought someone meant… or something you felt deeply in the moment—but later realized wasn’t quite true?

Here’s a hard but freeing truth:
Not everything you think or feel is actually true.

Yes, your feelings are valid. But they’re not always facts.
Your thoughts are real, but they’re not always reality.

Sometimes, we mistake perception for truth. A bad mood, a sleepless night, or an old emotional wound can (and often does) skew how we interpret the world around us.

Take the classic traffic example.
Someone cuts you off. Your heart races. You get mad.
Your thoughts say: “This jerk just disrespected me.”
Your feelings say: “I’m angry. I was wronged.”
And yet… maybe they didn’t even see you. Maybe they’re rushing to a family emergency. Or maybe they’re just having the kind of day where they can’t see clearly.

Does that mean you shouldn’t feel angry?
Not necessarily. It might mean you don’t need to stay angry.
You have the power to pause and question:

“What else could be true here?”

In Rooted and Real, you’ll work through learning how to hold your feelings without always letting them lead. It’s how we build gritty hearts. Hearts that can handle hard things and still choose love, compassion, and clarity.

What helps you check your thoughts or feelings before accepting them as truth?
