If you work in HR, you’ve likely been there. The meticulous planning. The legal consultation.
The preparation. The coaching of leaders who would have to deliver difficult news.
I was involved in a reduction in force impacting about 30 people.
From the outside: “She’s cold. How can she do this with a straight face? HR People are ruthless.”
From the inside during the process: “Stay focused. Take care of the people in front of you. Get through this because this is your responsibility.”
The following day? Laying on the floor face up. Listening to episode after episode of the podcast My Unsung Hero. Letting tears fall down the sides of my face. Not talking to anyone for hours because I needed to process the feels.
