Let’s take a moment to share your side hustles! What things do you do? In this article, I’ll share five of the things I do, many with affiliate or referral links included. Please do the same in the comments! There are likely others who would be interested in doing what you are doing.
Posting Photography and Other images for Resale
Fine Art America/Pixels On my pixels site I post photos I’ve taken in the past or images from my books. I’ve been using that site for over 13 years. I would recommend it as super easy to use. It has amazing features incorporating AI descriptions, multi-product creation, and easy pricing setup. I stopped adding items for years so I’m back looking at the new features and quite happy with them. This site charges a reasonable yearly fee. amanda-barcon.pixels.com
Zazzle I was an early user of Zazzle in 2006. This is why you’ll find some of my product designs are quite ugly. #learninggraphics back in the day. When my children were little, I took a break from doing much on the site. As a result, I missed a lot of the updates and features. I still have my stores, though I have learning to do to catch myself back up.
The ease of creating a product and ability to just try it out can be fun. In the past, my best sellers were designs on stamps, specially targeted to wedding invitations. Sadly, the site is no longer allowing stamps. <awwwww>
The image below links to a recent collection I created in a Shakespeare themed store called Thou Art Witty. The collection image below illustrates how you can easily group items and share with one affiliate link. (Which the link here is. When you are an affiliate, you earn if someone uses your links to shop on the site. It still applies even if they do not buy your products.)
Zazzle is easy to use and includes no upfront costs. There are a few creator expenses. These include set ups for embroidery, but overall, it’s a low/no risk startup. There are some amazing designers on this site.
Renting Space
Peerspace I recently joined Peerspace. It is a site where people can rent out spaces by the hour. They can use the space for things like photo shoots, meetings, or small events. The first rental I had was for a baby product commercial shoot. It was nice to see people bring their own ideas and energy using my house. Meanwhile, I earn a bit of income. I rent my primary residence in a suburb. It is likely not as lucrative as renting real estate in cities or commercial space could be.
Affiliate Marketing
Amazon I’ve been an Amazon affiliate for over 15 years. It’s easy to sign up, easy to use links and is relatively passive. In the past, I used the links in a children’s-based website I had up and running. Today, I use the links in articles related to leadership books or other items.
I’m giving the “influencer side” of Amazon a try. So far, it seems relatively user friendly. Here is an example list of recommended items created based on an event I held for a Women’s networking event: Women’s Networking Event Special Touches or one for Notebooks and pens that make great work gifts: Work appropriate pens and notebooks
Writing
Amazon KDP I use KDP to publish the books I’ve written. At the time of this article I have seven books published under three different author names. KDP lets you connect your account to up to three author identities.
The first book I published was “Younger Days and a Whisper” which is a book of poetry. For this book, I used my initials as the author. Then I went on to start HG People, a company designed to be stimulate high growth and highest good. I use HG People for the books that fit the mission of HG People. HG People Bookshelf. Lastly, I have a pen name for fiction writing. Writing your own books can be a great outlet and offers a way to help others.
I’ve shared five of my side hustles, what are yours? What do you like about them? Any pros/cons to share? What are you doing?
